Lucille J. Johnson

Lucille J. Johnson, age 92 of Plum City, formerly of Maiden Rock, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City.

Lucy was born on August 14, 1924 at home in rural Osseo during a tornado. She was the daughter of Fred and Julia (Johnson) Sielaff. Lucy grew up in the Osseo area. During WWII Lucy moved to Seattle and worked for the Boeing Aircraft until the war was over. After the war was over, Lucy and her friend worked for an affluent family in Seattle. Lucy met the love of her life Dean C. Johnson on the train going west to Seattle. They wrote each other letters while Dean was overseas serving in the Army. On December 27, 1947, they were married in Osseo. After marriage, they moved to Wolf Point, MT. They then moved to Wisconsin where they started their family. Together, Lucy and Dean bought a bar in Maiden Rock and called it Dean & Lucy’s Place. They owned and operated the bar for 35 years before retiring, over the years, they made many wonderful friends. In 2000, Lucy and Dean moved to Plum City. Dean passed away in 2006. Since April, Lucy was a resident of the Plum City Care Center.

Lucy enjoyed baking, she was well known to her family for her cookies and playing cards. She liked traveling to see her family, spending a part of her winters in Florida with her sisters, and taking a special trip to Hawaii to see her grandson in the Army and his family.

Lucy is survived by her two daughters; Barbara Ann Chandler of Eau Claire and Deanna Lynne “Dede” Johnson of Plum City, five grandchildren; William “Billy” and Sara Klopf, Michael and Jody (Sara) Chandler and Andrew Lemmer, four great grandchildren; Haley Ann, Jackson Dean, James and Veronica, three sisters; Ione Magadanz of Lindstrom, MN, Audrey Brunzlick of Eau Claire and Sonja Wright of New Auburn, special friend; Myrtle Dodge of Eau Claire, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Dean C. Johnson, two brothers; Roderick and Willis Sielaff and one sister; Elaine Dodge.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Maiden Rock United Methodist Church in Maiden Rock. Rev. Shannon Mattison and Rev. Terry Hettenbach will officiate. Burial will be in the Maiden Rock Cemetery in Maiden Rock. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
