Kathleen A. Feuker
Kathleen A. Feuker age 75 of Elmwood, died Monday July 10, 2017 at her son’s home in the Township of Weston, rural Elmwood.
Kathy was born July 21, 1941 in Durand. She was the daughter of Victor E. and Marie A. (Sinz) Erickson and grew up in Eau Galle. She attended St. Henry’s Elementary School and graduated from Durand High School in 1959. Kathy married John W. Feuker on September 11, 1965 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. After marriage they made their home on the Nippersink Valley Farm, where they worked in partnership and raised their family. Despite the demands of a busy dairy farm, she devoted time to gatherings with extended family, 4-H leadership, religious education, and several part-time jobs off the farm. Kathy also was a personal care giver to her mother, Marie.
As a vibrant presence in the life of her grandchildren, she shared her sense of adventure and love of nature. Gramma was always ready for identifying butterflies, bird banding, catching frogs, searching for treasure or kayaking down a river. Kathy was known to provide enthusiastic support at their sporting events, sometimes for the other team.
The sound of her laughter enlivened every gathering. Kathy enjoyed traveling both locally and abroad. Campfire cooking was the best way to “eat out”, bird watching provided hours of entertainment, dancing at the Moose Lodge was an anticipated weekly event, and many paintings were completed at Arts Coming Together. She served in many capacities at Sacred Heart in Elmwood including reading at mass, singing in the choir and serving in the Altar and Rosary Society.
Kathy is survived by her children, Craig (Andrea) of Elmwood, Anita Feuker of Reno, NV, three granddaughters, Libby, Hannah, and Katie; three sisters, Luanne Erickson of Eau Galle, Theresa Harrington of Denver, CO and Bonnie (Bill) Gibson of Fall Creek; a sister-in-law, Kay Erickson of Jacksonville, FL; a brother-in-law, David Allen of Denver, CO, nieces and a nephew and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 2012, and a brother, Jon “Swede” Erickson, a sister Susan Erickson, a nephew, Shawn “Gibby” Gibson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kathy’s name may be given to Mayo Clinic Cancer Research.
