Charles N. Buchholtz

Charles N. Buchholtz, age 89 of Washburn, passed away on May 2, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Charlie was born on July 17, 1927 in Mayville. He was the son of Otto and Eunice (Weber) Buchholtz and grew up in the Durand area. Charlie served U.S. Army and served in Europe after WWII. On November 8, 1949, Charlie married Pauline Bauer at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima, rural Durand. After marriage they moved to South St. Paul, MN where Charlie worked as a meat cutter for Armour. An injury at work forced him into early retirement. Charlie and Polly loved to travel in their motor home. Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing and just socializing with friends.

Charlie is survived by his sister; Carol Kern of Durand, brother; Ralph (Velma) Buchholtz, of Minog, granddaughters; Chelsea Sumnler of Metropolis, IL and Keri Ann Sumnler of Brookport, IL, grandson; Robert J. Kappel of Monticello, MN, brother-in-law; Edmund Bauer, sisters-in-law; Margaret Giese of Eau Claire and Myrna Buchholtz of Durand and a special companion; Berna of Washburn. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Pauline, three sons; Gary, Terry and Cary, one daughter; Sharon Buchholtz and brothers; Jack and Bob Buchholtz.

Memorial Mass will be 11:30 AM Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church – Lima, rural Durand with Rev. Paul Bosco officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Durand American Legion Post #181 of Durand. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the time of services at the church on Wednesday.
