David D. Patraw, age 62 of Durand, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Care Center in Wabasha, MN with his wife by his side.

David was born on March 14, 1955 in Wabasha, MN. He was the son of Glenn and Nellie (Grey) Patraw. David grew up in the Nelson and Durand area and graduated from Durand High School in 1973. After high school, David worked for Northern Wisconsin Manufacturing in Pepin for several years. David then took a job at 3M in Menomonie and had a 35 year career there until his illness forced him to retire. David married Janet Westergaard on September 19, 1981 at the United Methodist Church in Durand.

David enjoyed woodworking, gardening, landscaping and being outdoors. He also liked to travel the state looking for gardening ideas. David took pride with being on the Durand Garden Walks and showing his woodworking and hard work he put in over the years. Most of all, David loved to spend time with family and friends.

David is survived by his wife of 35 years; Janet, his son; Kyle of Durand, step-children; Brian Harms of Chippewa Falls and Stephanie (Joel) Voelker of Boyceville, three grandchildren; Ashley Harms, Carolyn and Emily Voelker, three brothers; Gary (Kat), Jack (Becky), both of Nelson and Dennis of River Falls, three sisters; Gayle Van Norman of Durand, Sharon Bauer of Eau Claire and Lu Ann (Dennis) Meixner of Arkansaw, three sisters-in-law; Mary Ann Patraw of Nelson, Vicki Patraw of Pepin, Barb (Greg) Brandt of Reinbeck, IA, father and mother-in-law; James and Lillian Westergaard of Reinbeck, IA, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Dale and Robert Patraw and two brothers-in-law; Wes Van Norman and Doug Bauer.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand with Chaplin David Lotto officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Friday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
