Rose M. Stewart

Rose M. Stewart, age 88 of Durand, died Monday, November 7, 2016 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with her family by her side.

Rose was born on July 3, 1928 in the Town of Durand. She was the daughter of George and Hannah (Berger) Brantner and grew up in the Durand and Arkansaw area. Rose married Nelson Stewart on June 5, 1947 in Arkansaw. After marriage, they lived in Arkansaw for a short while before moving to Durand, where she remained the rest of her life. Nelson passed away in 1989 after 44 years of marriage.

Rose enjoyed dancing, crafting, gardening and her once a month trip to the casino. Most of all, Rose loved to spend time with family and friends.

Rose is survived by her daughter; Patricia (Byron) Bruns of Brooklyn Park, MN, one granddaughter; Kelly (Pete) Keiner of Zimmerman, MN, three great grandchildren; Danielle, Lucas and Valerie, one brother; John (Alice) Brantner of Pepin, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Nelson Stewart, six brothers; Robert, Fred, Paul, Gale, George and Philip, five sisters; Margaret Davis, Frances Smith, Doris Sanders, Beatrice Anderson and Margie Kuehl and a special friend; William Black Sr.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand with Rev. Grace Baldridge officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Durand. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Thursday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Friday.

    Pat sorry to hear about Aunt Rose's Passing. She was such a nice person. I remember going to visit her and Nelson when I was young. They were always very good people. She will be missed.

    I have fond memories of Rose, Nels, and Patricia while living on Durand Street up by the old swimming pool in the 1950s and 60s. My parents, Leonard and Lorraine Knutson have passed away, but they always remembered how friendly and kind that Rose was to all of us.
