Alfred "Bud" J. Forster
Alfred J. “Bud” Forster age 75 of Elmwood, died Saturday October 15, 2016 at his home in rural Eau Galle with his family around him.
Bud was born October 5, 1941 in Mondovi to Alfred J. and Hildegard (Prissel) Forster. He grew up in Buttermilk Coulee of rural Elmwood and attended St. Henry’s Catholic School through 8th grade and Elmwood High School. Bud worked on the family farm. He married Carole Ann Heit August 14, 1965 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arkansaw. After marriage, they continued farming in Buttermilk Coulee where they raised their five children. He farmed with his two sons up until his death.
Bud enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, trap shooting, card playing and hunting, but his greatest love was farming. He also loved watching his grandchildren play sports and other activities. Bud was a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Elmwood Rod & Gun Club and Whitetails Unlimited. Most of all, Bud loved spending time with his family and friends.
Bud is survived by his wife, Carole Ann, five children; Mary Collins (and Steve Massey) of Maypearl, TX, Ann (Greg) Franson of Woodbury, MN, Thomas of Elmwood, Jennifer (Joe) Weber of Durand, John (Lexi) of Elmwood, thirteen grandchildren; Jessica (John) McCoy, Julia (Corey) Sanchez, Timothy Franson, Carley Christian, Jared Christian, Megan Forster, Nicholas Forster, Isabella Forster, Zachery Weber, Brady Weber, Luke Weber, Hannah Forster, and Dominic Forster; four great grandchildren; Addison McCoy, Mason McCoy, Vivienne Sanchez, and Annabelle Sanchez, seven siblings, Rita Huebner of Eau Claire, Hubert (Helen) Forster of Oconomowoc, Galen Forster of Eau Claire, Veronica (Jim) Weiss of Plum City, Patricia (Kevin) Coulson of Plum City, Michael Forster of Menomonie and William Forster of River Falls, sister-in-law; Vicki Forster of Elmwood, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Anton Forster, two sisters in infancy, Josephine and Julianna, a brother-in-law and a son-in-law.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday October 19, 2016 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle with Rev. Jerry Hoeser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
