James A. Wolf
James A. Wolf, age 79 of Eau Claire, formerly of Elmwood, went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2016 at the Dove – West Health Care Center in Eau Claire with his wife Janet by his side, after a long struggle with dementia.
Jim was born on July 29, 1936 in Durand. He was the son of Ben and Margaret (Morse) Wolf. He grew up in the Elmwood area, attended St. Henry’s Grade School and graduated from Elmwood High School in 1954. After high school, he worked at the Elmwood Creamery and later for the American Can Company in the Twin Cities. Jim joined the U.S. National Guard and served for several years before being honorably discharged. Jim married Janet Harrigan on November 13, 1965 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. After marriage, they made their home in the City of Eau Claire and later built their home in the Elk Lake area. Jim worked for Gould Engine Parts in Eau Claire until the factory closed and then he worked as a supervisor for Cray Inc. in Chippewa Falls until he retired.
Jim enjoyed learning and later in life he attained his Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing Technology from Chippewa Valley Technical College and belonged to ASQ and SME organizations. He enjoyed reading, taking care of his flower and vegetable gardens, working on his tractor and helping his wife Janet taking care of their beloved cats. Jim loved playing cards, visiting with family and friends, the Holidays, his church and his God.
Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years; Janet, three sisters-in-law; Zinna (Louie) Lato and Sharon Prissel, both of Forks, WA and Arlene Harrigan of Oakdale, MN, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Nancy (J.D.) Albrecht, one brother; Bernard “Bing” Wolf, two brothers-in-law; Wayne (Marie) Harrigan and Kenneth Harrigan and one nephew; Ronald Harrigan.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Monday, April 18, 2016 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle with Rev. Jerry Hoeser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Durand American Legion Post #181. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
