Carol J. Johnson
Carol J. Johnson, age 85, of Mondovi, died Friday, April 8, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
Carol was born December 19, 1930 in the Township of Rock Creek-Dunn County rural Rock Falls. She was the daughter of Peter and Emma (Stone) Dahl and grew up in that community. Carol was a Durand High School graduate. Carol married Dale Johnson on February 14, 1953, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church. After their marriage, they farmed for many years in the Townships of Albany-Pepin County and Drammen-Eau Claire County, where they raised their two children. They later divorced. Carol worked in many capacities. She was employed by Melgaard Implement of Rock Falls. Carol was a missionary with YWAM (Youth with a Mission) and worked in Hawaii for a year. Then Carol continued her missionary work, as she traveled with YWAM to several other countries. Carol returned to Eau Claire where she was employed by Golden Rule Oil Convenience Stores. Carol retired to Mondovi where she became a member of Friendship Church and was actively involved in church ministries. In March 2015, she moved into The Home Place Assisted Living in Mondovi.
Carol is survived by her children, Debi (Butch) Hurlburt of Durand; Jim (Terri) Johnson of Hudson; three grandchildren, Tiffany Garner (Andy Lee), Erin (Mike) Englund, Kyle (Jen) Johnson, five great-grandchildren, Ben and Alexa Englund, Kennedy Garner, Katelyn and Charlotte Johnson and one great-granddaughter expected soon; a sister, Beverly (Dale) Johnson of Colfax, a sister-in-law, Judy Johnson of Onalaska, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Betty Borman and brother Eugene Dahl.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 PM Monday until the time of services at the Friendship Church in Mondovi.
Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2016 at Friendship Church in Mondovi with Rev. Brian Jahn officiating. Private burial services will be held later at the Rock Creek Cemetery in the Township of Rock Creek, rural Rock Falls.
