Marian B. Drier
Marian B. Drier age 78 of Eau Claire, formerly of Eau Galle, died peacefully on Sunday March 13, 2016 at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, surrounded by her family.
Marian was born November 27, 1937 in the Township of Lima, Pepin County, rural Durand. She was the daughter of Melvin and Lucy (Weiss) Chilson and grew up in the Lima community. Marian graduated from Sacred Heart High School at Lima. Shortly after high school she married Lyle Drier October 21st 1958 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima, rural Durand. After marriage they made their home in the Eau Galle area and raised their family. They later moved to the Durand area. After the death of her husband in 1999, Marian moved to Eau Claire to be closer to her family.
Marian enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, playing cards with family and friends. She belonged and was active with the Red Hats Society in Durand, and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Marian is survived by her children, Charlie (Sheila) of Durand, Kathy (Robert) Mayer of Chippewa Falls, Karen (John) Ness of Eau Claire, Ken (Wanda) of Ellsworth, Julie (David) Dohms of Eau Claire, Sue (Fred) Loken of Cedarburg; 12 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy (Cyril) Weisenbeck of Durand, two brothers, Ken (Lili) Chilson and Bernard (Sue) Chilson, both of Eau Claire, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lyle, her parents, and a son-in-law, Christopher Slowiak.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday March 19, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand with Rev. Paul Bosco officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand with a family lead rosary service at 3:30 PM, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
The family would like to thank the staff at Dove Health Care West and HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital for the wonderful and compassionate care that was given to Marian.
