Duane B Meixner

Duane B. Meixner, age 81, of Arkansaw, died Sunday, March 13, 2016, at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie with his family by his side.

Duane was born on July 26, 1934, the son of Donald and Rosemond (Richardson) Meixner. He grew up in the Arkansaw and Elmwood areas and graduated from Elmwood High School. Duane married Barbara (Smith) Bundy on March 26, 1988, in Arkansaw where they lived.

Duane worked various jobs including long-distance hauling and driving truck for Blacks Valley Ag and Countryside Cooperative. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea and Germany. Duane loved the outdoors, often spending time fishing and never missing an opportunity to play cards with his friends at The Corral in Durand. Duane loved to barbecue and cook for his family.  He loved working outdoors, mowing his huge lawn, bowling and playing horse shoes.  Duane coached various youth baseball, softball, basketball, and volleyball teams. He was always willing to help others. He was a passionate Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and Duane’s many nieces and nephews were always special to him.

Duane is survived by his wife, Barbara; a sister, Marcia Harmon of Elmwood; 3 step-children that he considered his own, Roger (Cathy) Bundy and David Bundy of Eau Galle and Cindy Schlosser (and special friend Wally) of Arkansaw; 4 grandchildren, Pam, Tony (Teasha), Joe and Kelsey; 1 great-grandson, Mason; one brother-in-law, Ronald Reitz.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Dona Rose Gill and Cleo Ann Reitz, and two brothers-in-law, John T. Harmon and Horace Gill.

A special thanks to the nurses and aids at Neighbors of Dunn County and Dr. Kenneth Rucker of Durand.
