Dorothy M. Klein
Dorothy M. Klein, age 81 of Durand, died Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with her family by her side.
Dorothy was born on June 14, 1934 in Durand. She was the daughter of Charles Sr. and Julia (Bauer) Sabelko. Dorothy grew up in the Town of Lima and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1952. After high school she worked at the Hoeser Pharmacy in Durand. Dorothy married Don Klein on October 26, 1954 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima. After marriage, they moved to Ft. Lawton, WA near Seattle where Don was stationed while in the Army. They moved back to Arkansaw, where they farmed for 40 years and raised their family. Dorothy and Don retired from farming in 1996 and moved to the Durand area, where she remained the rest of her life.
Dorothy and Don enjoyed traveling the around the world together, taking three trips to Europe, going to China, Hawaii and many bus trips around the country. She also enjoyed playing cards, embroidering on quilt blocks for the great grandchildren, baking, reading, fishing, gardening and attending the grandchildren’s ball games. Most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with family and friends. Dorothy was an active St. Joseph’s Catholic Church PCCW in Arkansaw and sang in the Lima Polka Choir.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 61 years; Don, three children; Dan (Joele) of Rock Falls, Dale (Sue) of Arkansaw and Diane (Dan) of Durand, six grandchildren; Eric (Special Friend Sarah), Jamie (John), both of Eau Claire, Josh (Special friend Nikki) of Durand, Jessica (Special Friend Hugh) of River Falls, Lori (Chad) and Stacy (Larry), both of Durand, six great grandchildren; Ethan, Rexton, Paityn, Holly, Bennett, Brynleigh, one brother; Ralph (Janice) Sabelko of Durand, two sisters; Kathleen Kelley of Menomonie and Juliana (Herb) Tschumperlin of Plum City, three sisters-in-law; Elaine Sabelko, Lucy Ann Sabelko, both of Durand and Marlene Sabelko of Elmwood, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Hubert, William, Edward Sr. and Charles Sabelko Jr., brother-in-law; Bill Kelley and two sisters-in-law; Blondie Sabelko and Betty Sabelko.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw with Rev. Paul G. Czerwonka officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
