Virginia Helen “Pat” Rhiel, age 85 of Durand
Born: March 11, 1923
Died: August 6, 2008 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.
Pat was the daughter of Harry and Vera (Helbig) Carlisle. She was born and raised in Durand and graduated from Durand High School. After high school, she traveled with Parkinson’s National Brass Musical Ensemble from 1941-1942. In 1945 Pat joined entered the U.S. Navy. After WWII, Pat married Robert Rhiel on June 8, 1949 in Plum City. After marriage, they lived and farmed on the Rhiel family farm in the Exile area of rural Plum City. Pat was employed at the Springer Medical Clinic in Elmwood until 1959. Pat’s husband died August 7, 1982. Pat later moved to Durand where she remained the rest of her life.
Pat enjoyed spending years with her dog Coco, playing cards, especially Bridge. She was a member of the Plum City American Legion #365. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Pat is survived by her two children, Barb (Margo) Steenerson of Elk Mound, Bob (Teresa) of Ellsworth, six grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, one sister, Elaine Prissel of Warrens, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Robert.
