Charles F. Spindler
Charles F. Spindler, age 85 of Eau Galle, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Pepin Health and Rehab in Pepin.
Charlie was born on October 18, 1930 in Durand. He was the son of Frank and Emma (Hartung) Spindler. Charlie grew up on the home farm in the Town of Durand and graduated from Durand High School. He married Lila Knopps on September 1, 1953 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie. After marriage, they moved to the Spindler family farm where they farmed and raised their family. In 1985, Charlie and Lila moved to their home on Lake Eau Galle, where they lived for the last 30 years. In March, Charlie moved to the Pepin Health and Rehab in Pepin, where he remained the rest of his life.
Charlie enjoyed fishing, woodworking and bowling. He enjoyed going with Lila to the casinos and playing cards with friends. Charlie took great pride in his garden, most of all his raspberries. Most of all, Charlie loved to spend Holidays and weekends at the lake with the family.
Charlie is survived by his children; Kris (Craig) Unser of Durand, Sue Greuel of Eau Claire, Rod (Missie), Pat (Tom) Trainor, Bob (Leah), Michelle (Brad) Olsen, all of Durand, one daughter-in-law; Sandy (John) Andress of Durand, 17 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two sisters; Lorena Kezar of Coon Rapids, MN and Dorothy Bauer of Durand, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Lila, three children; Mary (stillborn), Michael, and David Spindler, two sisters; Marian Komro and Evelyn Brunner and one brother; William Spindler.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima in Durand with Rev. Paul Bosco officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the church on Saturday.
