Clara A. Gilgenbach Krueger
Clara A. Gilgenbach Krueger, age 96, of Menomonie, died Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at The Neighbors of Dunn County surrounded by her family.
Clara was born September 22, 1919, in the Town of Stanley, the daughter of Ferdinand and Martha (Amundson) Elmlinger. She grew up in Cameron and graduated from Cameron High School.
In 1942, Clara married William Gilgenbach and they had five children; James, Judith, William (Pip), Richard, and Robert. Clara worked for a number of years at the Menomonie Clinic and the Red Cedar Clinic. Her life was devoted to time spent with her children.
After William’s death, Clara later married Paul (Dick) Krueger in 1981. They loved to play cards with friends and enjoyed many fishing trips together.
Clara will be remembered for her quick sense of humor and bright smile. She had a love for music and played the violin and piano. Clara enjoyed being with and caring for her friends. She loved to bake and hosted many coffee parties with her fresh baked treats. Her true joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Clara is survived by her four children; Judith Schuch (Kim Swenson) of Menomonie, William “Pip” (Cindy) Gilgenbach of Birchwood, Richard Gilgenbach (Cleo Gilgenbach), and Robert (Kathy) Gilgenbach, both of Menomonie; 12 grandchildren, Julie (Jeff) Harrison, William, Michael (Abbie), Tony, Jesse Gilgenbach, Sarah (Trevor) Willkomm, James, Richard, and Elizabeth Gilgenbach, Renee (Geoff) Suski, William (Emily Sisco) and Robert (Jenny) Gilgenbach; and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Betty (Milo) Anderson of Mondovi, Sonja Gilgenbach of Menomonie, and Ruth McCormick of Texas; brother-in-law Donavan (Rosemary) Krueger of Racine; stepson Ron (Ann) Krueger and family of Arizona, stepdaughter-in-law Diane Carriveau and family of Chippewa Falls; other nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.
Clara is preceded in death by her parents; husband William Gilgenbach (1962), son James Gilgenbach (1952), husband Paul (Dick) Krueger (2014), sisters Fern Kippels and Evelyn Pease, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday November 30, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie with Rev. James Kurzynski officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Joseph Catholic Church, The Neighbors of Dunn County or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
