Eileen M. Cebe, age 95 of Durand
Born: June 18, 1913
Died: July 16, 2008 at the Oakview Care Center in Durand
Eileen was the daughter of George and Helen (Mulheron) Roeder. She was born in Hannibal, WI. She was raised from childhood by her grandparents James and Mary Mulheron at their farm on Chase Hill, Eau Galle, Wisconsin. When she became a teenager she moved to Durand, where she lived and worked at the Louise Erickson farm on Flat Iron Point. Eileen met Engelbert “Buss” Biederman when he was delivering groceries at the Erickson farm. They married on November 20, 1938. After marriage she worked at the creamery in Durand for a short time. She then worked in the laundry department at St. Benedict’s Hospital in Durand for more than 25 years. She never learned to drive. Eileen walked to and from the hospital everyday. Her husband “Buss” past away April 16, 1979. On June 10, 1983 Eileen married Anton F. (Tony) Cebe. Tony passed away November 10, 1989. Eileen liked music, especially polkas and waltzes. Two of her favorite songs were “My Wild Irish Rose” and “Let Me Call You Sweetheart.” Eileen was a devout Catholic and rarely missed daily mass. She belonged St. Mary’s Altar Society and the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters. After retirement, she volunteered at the St. Mary’s School Lunch Program for many years. Due to declining health Eileen took up residence at the Oakview Care Center in Durand in May of 2004. Her high spirited personality added much joy to other residents and employees.
Eileen is survived by her very special friend, Beatrice “Beats” Biederman of Durand, her stepson Joe Cebe, nieces Kathy Heller and Janet Howey, many dear friends and special cousin Pat (Joyce) Mulheron – we’ll miss you, Eileen. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Engelbert “Buss” Biederman, her husband Anton (Tony) Cebe, and two sisters Evelyn Freeman and LaVerne Ludwig.
