Joseph A. "Joe" Justus
Joseph A. “Joe” Justus, age 66 of Menomonie, died Monday, December 1, 2025 at his home in Menomonie with his family by his side.
Joe was born on June 11, 1959 in Menomonie. He was the son of Marion and Betty (Scheele) Justus. Joe grew up in Glencoe, MN and graduated from Glencoe High School in 1977. After high school, Joe went to tech school in St. Cloud for carpentry and drafting. Joe married Kathy Fogarty in 1981. They lived in Glencoe where they started their family and Joe built houses in Egan and Apple Valley, MN for a few years. Joe then took a job with Hutchinson Technologies. In 1997, he transferred to Eau Claire and the family moved to Menomonie. Joe worked for Hutchinson Technologies until his retirement in 2021.
Joe loved spending time in his shop woodworking. He enjoyed tending his garden and canoeing in the boundary waters. Took great pride in his hobby farm with his steers, and pigs and chickens over the years. His passion for animals was most evident in his love of his dogs.
Joe is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy, children Katie Strauss of Pine River, MN, Martin (Jana) of Rochester, MN and James of Hutchinson, MN, seven grandchildren Carter, EmmaJo and Leo Strauss and Stella, Quinn, Martin and Marcas Justus, dogs Aussie and Biscuit, siblings Lucy Anderson of MN, Marion of ND and Ed (Sheila) of ND, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Betty and son-in-law Matthew Strauss.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00AM-1:00PM Friday, December 12, 2025 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie.
