Goldene T Weiss

Goldene T. Weiss, age 99, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Welcome Home Assisted Living in Elmwood.

Goldie was born on February 18, 1926, to Andrew and Emma (Bauer) Brunner in the Town of Lima, rural Durand. She attended Sacred Heart School in Lima. Goldie married Edmund Weiss on June 6, 1944 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. They farmed in rural Durand for their entire lives. She worked side by side with Edmund on the farm and raised their seven children there. Goldie loved to play cards, bingo and go dancing. They would spend many Friday nights with friends playing cards, and many Sunday afternoons dancing at Club 10.

Goldie moved to Welcome Home Assisted Living in Elmwood in February 2020. She made it her mission to enjoy life, and she definitely did. Goldie made new friends there and even found some old ones as well. She was a joy to the staff and other residents.

Goldie is survived by her children Rhonda (Bob) Braun of Cottage Grove, MN, Diana (Ben Nixon) Thompson of Shoreview, MN, Larry (Beverly) Weiss of Lake Elmo, MN, Edmund Jr. (Debbie) Weiss of Woodbury, MN, Richard (Julie) Weiss of San Angelo, TX and Randy (Colleen) Weiss of Durand, 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Mary Jean (Bill) Pattison, son-in-law Dan Thompson and siblings Hubert Brunner, Winifred Schuh, Betty Hartung, Jean McCook, and Marlene Brunner (Sr. Mona).

The family would like to thank Mel and the entire staff at Welcome Home for their love and care for Goldene. Also, to St. Croix Hospice for all the help and support to her, and to the family as well.

Memorials are preferred in Goldie’s name to Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima.

Memorial Mass will be 11:00AM Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima rural Durand with Rev. Emmanuel Asamoah-Bekoe will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00AM until the time of services at the church on Saturday, December 13, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held following the burial at the Orton Room at the Corral in Durand from 12:30PM-3:30PM.

She was a sweet and caring grandmother to our 2 children. She always treated me so well and I loved her for it. We were honored to have her with us for so many years of memories.
