Richard D Ebbinga

Richard Dale Ebbinga passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at home in Arkansaw, WI.
He was born September 16, 1937 to Diedrich Siebelts Ebbinga and Ann Theresa Thies in Currie, Minnesota.
He served in the Air Force as a staff sergeant for 6 years, as an electronic technician maintaining radar equipment.
He was married to Murlys Ann Holmen and had 4 children Jodie, Jim, Lori and Paul. They lived in Minnesota for several years where Richard worked for the 3M company as an electronic engineer. In 1966, Richard transferred to the 3M plant in Camarillo, CA where he lived with his wife and family. In 1984, he transferred to the 3M plant in Menomonie WI where he worked until he retired. He was very proud of the home he built “all by himself” in the Menomonie area.
Murlys passed away in 1992 after a long and difficult illness and Richard demonstrated his kind and giving soul by caring for his wife and staying by her side.
Richard was fortunate to meet a second love of his life Jeanette Brunner and they married on July 17, 2004.
They lived on a farm in rural Arkansaw where he was able to thoroughly enjoy farming for a few years. He especially liked going to auctions. His favorite piece of machinery was an old John Deere, Model A tractor.
He had a private pilot’s license and loved flying, especially his Cessna. One of the highlights of the year was attending the air show at Oshkosh.
Richard spent time with his kids going to Disneyland, water skiing, having adventures in camping and traveling back to the Midwest to visit relatives. In his later years, he was able to enjoy fishing and gardening.
Richard and Jeanette loved to go dancing and RV camping. They would travel to California every year to visit his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette and a daughter Lori Meni (husband Bill) and a son Paul Ebbinga. Also, grandsons Will and Noah Meni, granddaughters Jennifer Bosley (husband Sam) and Sara Arp (husband Colin) Great-grandchildren Emmett Bosley and M.J. Bosley
His extended family Stephanie Danielson (husband David), Scott Brunner (wife Suzie) Grandchildren Emily Gregory (husband Ian) Jacob Danielson, Shelby Brunner, Taylor Webster (husband Mitchell) Great grandchildren Peyton Brunner, Daniel Gregory and Millie Webster. Brothers Bill, Ted, John, Steve, Bob and sister Sandy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Murlys, daughter Jodie and son Jim
Also 2 brothers Don and James and 2 sisters Linda Fryer and Sharon Filzen.
A visitation will be held at Rhiel Funeral home in Menomonie on Friday, June 20th from 4 pm to 7 pm. Burial will be at a later date in Conejo Mountain Cemetery in Camarillo, California.
