Maxine O Seyffer

Maxine O Seyffer

Maxine Orlea Seyffer, age 90, passed away at Advent Health in Durand on May 25, 2025.  Maxine was born July 27, 1934, in Plum City, WI. to Joe and Silva Schoeder.  Growing up, the family moved several times; she attended several schools, graduating from Gates High School in Gates, Oregon.  Maxine met her future husband the day he returned home from serving our country in Korea.  They were wed on June 26, 1954, in Pepin, WI.  Together, they bought a dairy farm on Big Hill and had a successful career, and they were known for their registered milking herd.

Maxine enjoyed the many outings with the Bergmark family, including fish fries and New Year’s Eve get-togethers.  Maxine had much joy and contentment in sewing, reading, bird watching, and baking.  She raised a large garden, canning and freezing the produce, which was shared with family and friends.  Countless meals were put on the table, completely raised, and harvested on the farm. Her extensive flower beds were a sign of her love of flowers.  She belonged to several garden clubs around the United States, trading many plants throughout the years.  After retiring from the dairy farm, she made quilts of all shapes and sizes.  Each grandchild received one when they graduated high school.  In her later years, she became more of an avid reader and had a book in hand more times than not.

Maxine enjoyed having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visit.

Archie and Maxine traveled to many states, taking in the sights while visiting family and friends for several years after retiring.

Maxine is survived by her children, Deb (Boyd) Belmore of Rio Rancho, NM, Rick (Kelly) of Luck, Kevin (Pam) of Red Wing, MN, Dave (Robin) of Downsville, and Chris (Brian) Richardson of Durand.  Maxine is also survived by seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Archie, her parents, Joe Schoeder and Silva Gurr, a sister, Linda Schoeder, and brothers, Roger Schoeder and Steve Gurr.  In-laws Louis and Florence Seyffer. Her brother and sisters-in-law Vaughn and Lou Seyffer and Vernon and LaVerle Hince.

Funeral Services will be 1:00PM Monday, June 2, 2025 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand. Burial will be in the Porcupine Cemetery in Town of Frankfort, rural Arkansaw. Visitation will be from 12:00PM Noon to the time of services a the funeral home on Monday.
