Roland C Mombelli

Roland Carlo Mombelli, age 82 of Menomonie, WI died Saturday, April 13, 2024 at his home with his family by his side and with the support of St. Croix Hospice after a battle with colon cancer.

Roland was born on April 30, 1941 in Uster, Zurich, Switzerland. He was the first born son of Guerino and Klara (Frey) Mombelli. Following school he served in the Swiss Army. Roland was trained in Switzerland as a Tool and Die maker and was recruited to come to the US to practice his skill in 1967. He lived and practiced his craft in several New England states and Colorado. He spent his life making parts for many industries including Boeing, McDonald Douglas and the NASA space program to name just a few which he was very proud of. In his youth he enjoyed playing soccer on a regional team, playing Banjo with his friends and skiing in the Alps of Switzerland. Roland Married Eva-Maria Hoehne on May 15, 1965 at the Castle in Greifensee, Zurich, Switzerland at the Reformierte Kirche, Im Städtli. They later divorced.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting for deer and elk, stain glass work, cooking and playing soccer. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcyle and participating in cyle rides that raised money for children's organizations such as Make a Wish and Toys for Tots.  He enjoyed watching soccer, football and any shows about his beloved Switzerland. He loved visits from his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Roland is survived by his children : Jacqueline (Mike) Traun of Durand and Pascale (Brian) Stuckman of Raleigh, NC. Grandchildren: Matthias (Rachel) Traun, Durand, Celia (Tommy) Perez of Mondovi, Eliah (Natalee, fiance') Traun of Durand, and Zechariah Stuckman and 5 grandchildren: Violet and Grace Traun, Esther and Sampson Burg and Tommy Perez. and his brother: Carlo Mombelli of Dubendorf, Zurich,  Switzerland. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters Marianne Grimm and Annelise Lieske.

Internment will be held at a later date with a private family service.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.

    Hugs and prayers to his family. I didn't know him but he sounds like an amazing human who really Loved his family. He seems to have had a very interesting and fulfilling life. My thoughts are with you as you grieve
