Frances M White

Frances M. White, age 98 of Plum City, formerly of Maiden Rock, died peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Plum City Care Center in Plum City with her family by her side.

Frances was born on August 29, 1925 in Hager City to Howard and Sadye (Julian) Harrigan. At an early age the family moved to the Julian family farm in Maiden Rock. Frances grew up on the farm and attended Maiden Rock School. She then attended River Falls Teacher’s College and taught in rural schools in the area. Frances married Merlin White on June 29, 1946 at Sabylund Lutheran Church in Stockholm. After marriage they farmed and Frances continued to teach and raise her family. Frances taught 32 years teaching 2nd grade in Maiden Rock and then Prairie View Elementary in Hager City. She retired in 1988 and Merlin died in 1992. Frances and Merlin and two sons, Donald and Allen, Donald died in a car accident in 1968.

Frances enjoyed taking care of her lawn, gardening and 4H Club. She was a life long member of Sabylund Lutheran Church where she enjoyed many church activities and she was also a life long member of the Maiden Rock American Legion #158 Auxiliary. Most of all, Frances loved spending time with her family and friends.

Frances is survived by her son Allen of Stockholm, one grandson Nathan of Stockholm, niece Lana Schmitt of Lakeville, Mn, nephew Gary Bothun of Texas, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Merlin, son Donald, sister Vivan Bothun and brother Ivan Harriagn.  

Memorial Services will be 11:00AM Friday, May 3, 2024 at Sabylund Lutheran Church in Stockholm with Rev. Paul Oppedahl officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday, May 3, 2024. Fellowship will be held after services at Molly’s on Main in Plum City.
