George T. Weimer Jr. - 02-14-2010


George Trumbull Weimer Jr. George Trumbull Weimer Jr., age 76, of Menomonie, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. He was surrounded by his wife of 53 years and his family. George was born on December 23, 1933 in Washington, DC. He was the son of George Sr. and Karlyn Weimer. George grew up in Syracuse, NY and Havertown, PA and graduated from Haverford High School. He attended Penn State University where he received a degree in forestry. It was there that he met his wife Peggy Diemler. Peggy and George were married June 30,1956. Upon graduation, he and Peggy moved to Jim Falls, WI to take up farming with his mother and father. George and his family farmed in Jim Falls for 21 years. In 2001, George and Peggy moved to Menomonie, WI to be closer to their children and grandchildren. George loved nature and everything outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and metal detecting. He was a wonderful teacher of nature and used every opportunity to teach his children and grandchildren about it. George is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy, five children, Susan (Dennis) Thornton of West Bend, WI, George III (Stacey) Weimer of Menomonie, Beth (Ralph) Marshall of Temecula, CA, Thomas (Kimberly) Weimer of Menomonie and Jane (George “Bill”) Brewe of Menomonie, WI. George had 10 beautiful grandchildren, Ashley, Cale, Lexi and Matthew Barber of Menomonie, Zachery Dorrow of Colorado, Nate Marshall of CA, Jacob and Kevin Weimer of Menomonie and William and Kendall Brewe of Menomonie. George is also survived by his sister Ann (Dick) Ebel of South Carolina, brother William (Joan) Weimer of Illinois, in-laws William and Marie Diemler of New Mexico, Tom and Shirley Diemler of Georgia and several nieces and nephews. George is preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, February 17th at Rhiel Funeral Home. George will be cremated and his ashes buried in a private ceremony. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Tainter Menomin Lake Improvement Association.
