Scott M. “Swamper” Messier, age 58 of Arkansaw, died Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at his home in Arkansaw with his family by his side.

Scott was born on October 4, 1965 in Ramsey County, Minnesota. He was the son of Lawrence R. “Buzz” and Sandra (Hosli) Messier. Scott grew up in St. Paul, MN and graduated from Harding High School. Scott worked for Up North Plastics and Custom Drywall for most of his career. He also worked for Weiser Concrete and the Durand Fresh Market until he was forced to retire. Scott married Terri Olsen and became a father to Ashley Olsen and had two children with Terri, Nicole and Robert. They later divorced. Scott married Kathy Hutter on August 20, 2011 at Arkansaw Creek Park in Arkansaw. Scott then became the step-father to five more children.

Scott was an avid Harley rider, he also enjoyed fishing, camping and going to the casino. He liked spending time in his garage tinkering and woodworking. Most of all, Scott loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Scott is survived by his wife, Kathy, children, Ashley Olsen, Nicole (Robert) Trealoff and their daughter Amira, Robert Messier, Scott (Janet) Bechel and their children Jacalyn (fiancé David), Ethan and Emma, Tracy (Chuck) Brunkow and their children Chase, Cody and Kaci, Michael Bechel and his son Tiegen, Matthew (Nikki) Bechel and their children Hattie and Louis and Mark (fiancé Heather Scott) and their children, Paige, Harley and Bentley, ex-wife, Terri Olsen, two brothers, Kenneth and Buzz, one sister, Shawna Hanson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00PM-4:00PM Sunday, March 17, 2024 at the Arkansaw Community Center in Arkansaw.
